Club Insomnia raided in huge drug bust

As part of a continued police crackdown on drug usage in and around Pattaya, the popular disco, Club Insomnia, was raided last night. If any of you were down on Walking Street around 2 am you couldn’t have missed the huge number of police just outside of the front entrance to the club. There must have been at least 100 police officers. They later stormed in, sealed off entrances, and began testing everyone for drugs.

Club Insomnia actually has two entertainment areas. There is a bar on the first floor that opens at 8 pm every night, The main disco area is located on the second floor of the building and doesn’t open until 11 pm. Police waited until the Insomnia Club second floor disco was packed with customers before staging the raid.

Apparently, the shake-down included many “farang” as well as all of the Thais that were in the disco at the time. Police collected urine samples and busted anyone who tested positive. They had all of the Pattaya girls lined up on one side of the room and were testing piss for over an hour. It looked like at least 40 people were arrested.

Guys, let this be a lesson to you. Don’t come to Pattaya to take drugs. Come to Pattaya for the Pattaya girls, instead. Also, be aware that in Thailand not only is drug possession illegal, it’s also illegal to have the drugs in your system. Police can demand a piss test at any time.
