Over 100 Pattaya police officers closed off the entire Soi 6 entertainment area the other night and raided all of the bars along the street. Over 400 bar workers were rounded up and questioned during the raid. Apparently, alert police were tipped off that there may have been prostitution and drug use occurring along Soi 6 in Pattaya. Who would have imagined it?
If any of you were up on Soi 6 on Monday night after midnight, you probably were shocked and awed by the raid. As police rapidly swooped into the area, I hope nobody got caught with their pants down. Such a large scale raid has never before taken place in Pattaya. I guess it was just a matter of time. I hope this doesn’t signal the end of such great entertainment venues as Soi 6.
According to one of the Pattaya girls I know up there, right before the raid happened the electric went off. With no lights on, most of the customers pulled up there pants and left. As soon as electricity was restored, in swept the cops.
The raid took most of the night to complete and police didn’t leave the scene until the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Imagine it! They rounded everybody up and took urine samples from all employees of all of the bars. That amounted to over 400 bar workers pissing into cups and waiting for the results.
According to reports, the police performed the usual checks for license violations, underage girls, and drug use. Fortunately, no underage girls were found. It’s nice to know that the Soi 6 bar owners run a clean shop in that regard. No license violations were reported either.
My girl reports that there were, however, a bunch of Pattaya Girls who tested positive for drug use, specifically, yaba (crystal meth). Apparently, out of all the Pattaya Girls that were tested, at least 60 came up positive. Those 60 unfortunates were packed into prisoner transport vehicles and carted off to the Police Station.
Who knows what happens next. I’ve always said that Soi 6 is a daytime venue. Go there at night at your own risk.

I’m horrified, thats the last time I go down Soi 6, I thought it was a ‘nice’ place.
However, I totally agree with you, 6 is for before you go out on the town, a sort of warmer up, if you like.
Girls are friendlier (usually) than the bars on 7/8 and a darn sight cheaper than Walking Street.

I hope the operation goes on as usual. I love Soi 6 Yodsak much more than silly Walking Street. Some years back they raided bars because they played pirated music in their places. Why didn’t they recheck MP3 players this time?
