Paradise A Go Go opened last month in Pattaya on Soi LK Metro. It’s been open just about three weeks now. This brings the number of go go bars in the LK Entertainment Area up to seven. Paradise is located across the street from Kiss A Go Go.

I ran into Paul, the owner, the other night and he was pretty excited about his new venture. Paul and his group own four gogo bars in Pattaya, so they’ve had plenty of experience. They also own Kiss A GoGo across the street, Far East Rock on Soi 13/2, and Sexy A GoGo on Soi 7. Granted, these are not the best, most famous go go bars in Pattaya, but they are decent neighborhood gogo bars. That is exactly the niche that Paul and his team have carved out for themselves here in a town where competition is stiff.

They did a nice job of remodeling the former guesthouse where Paradise A Go Go is located. I was surprised to learn, however, that there aren’t any short-time rooms available upstairs, even though the building used to be a hotel. Paul said they have plans to add some rooms in the near future. There’s nothing better than a well appointed, comfortable short time room. They’re so convenient. Let’s hope they get the short time rooms up and running soon.

Right now they’re concentrating on hiring up a good stable of girls and getting the basic bar operations running smoothly. So far, I’d say that they’ve done a nice job of finding some talented Pattaya Girls. This new Pattaya go go bar is small. In fact, Lighthouse A Go Go may just be the smallest go go bar on Walking Street, but last night size didn’t seem to matter to the many punters who stopped in to check it out. By 10 pm the place was packed and the party was on.

As soon as I walked in, I recognized some of the girls from Fahrenheit A Go Go across the street. I called one of the girls, Min, over for a lady drink and a chat. She informed me that Lighthouse is being run by the same management as Fahrenheit. That’s a good thing, because these boys know how to run their clubs.

They don’t reach all the way up to the ceiling as in most Pattaya go go bars.

Lighthouse is a very narrow venue. Customer seating is up against the walls with just one tier, so there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Last night they kept at least six girls on the stage all night and others mingled throughout the crowd. I’d say the girls were average looking but there were definitely some that I wouldn’t mind bar fining.

There is no Jacuzzi or shower show. In fact, last night there was practically no nudity at all. They’ll have to get that sorted out. The girls wear bikini outfits and keep their tops on most of the time.

I left the club after about an hour, but when I came back around midnight things were really rockin. By this time some of the girls on stage were at least topless. There were also some topless girls around the room being groped by lucky punters and the party was in full swing.

They have cheap happy hour prices and lady drinks are 125 baht all night. The bar fine is only 600 baht. All in all, there’s a good vibe here. Keep your eye on Lighthouse a Go Go. I think it has definite possibilities.

The first time I went into Spanky’s in Pattaya was just two days after it had opened in early December. Man, did it suck! They had a total of 4 dancer’s, none of whom were even on the stage at 9:30 pm. The place was empty except for me and another farang who was sitting on the other side of the room.

Oh well, I thought, all of the go go bars in Pattaya have growing pains when they first open up. Let’s give them a chance and take a look around, buy a drink, and sit for a while.

Spanky’s Pattaya is a small venue with the stage running from the front to the back of the club. There is two tiered, bench type seating on each side of the stage, small thin drink tables in front of the seats. On the left hand side, toward the back of the club they have a round, glass shower stall. Although, I’ve never seen any of the girls showering in it, at least it’s possibly a good sign of things to come.

The theme, as the name suggests, is spanking. The girls all have those rubber hose things that you can see in most of the clubs in town. They are made out of a hollow piece foam rubber, like you see on air conditioning lines as insulation. These rubber tubes are about 3 feet long. When the girls hit each other, it makes a very loud whack but doesn’t hurt.

Like I said, you can see girls whacking each other with these things in just about every club in town. So what’s the big deal? It’s hard to see how an entire go go bar theme can be made from it. Nevertheless, that’s the theme at Spanky’s.

I ordered my usual Sang Som on the rocks. At first the waitress didn’t understand what I was ordering. Jeez girl, it’s Sang Som, made in Thailand! Finally, a hostess was called over to translate. I said “Sang Som”… the hostess turned to the waitress and said “Sang Som”, and finally we got through to the poor girl that I wanted a Sang Som.

Try it sometime, guys, it’s actually Rum and it’s quite tasty. Most people order it with coke or with soda. I like mine on the rocks.

I finally got my drink. Still there were no girls on stage at all. Next, here at the newly opened Spanky’s, they brought me a check bin and there was a slip of paper in the bin with nothing on it. All that was written on the slip in the bin was the table number. Now, I’m starting to get worried.

The place was so dismal and the four girls were only average at best. They finally took the stage and their dancing looked like they were riding the BTS train up in Bangkok. There was one farang that kept running in and out of the place, talking frantically on a cell phone who must have been the owner. He paid absolutely no attention to his only two customers. Great welcome, right?

Oh well, l still wanted some more info on this place, so I called the mamasan over and asked about the bar fine. She informed me that the bar fine for one of these four hags was 1,500 baht. You’ve got to be shitting me! You can bar fine a stunner at any other club in Pattaya for no more than 600 to 800 baht.

By this time, I was ready to leave without even touching my drink. I called the hostess over and I was ready to give her 100 baht for my drink just to get out of the joint. Guess what? They wanted 130 baht for a shot of Sang Som. Again, you’ve got to be shitting me!

Keep in mind, I had started my nightly crawl at Sapphire Club where I had paid 75 baht for my drink. My next stop was Heaven Above where it had cost me a grand total of 50 baht for my shot of Sang Som. These two Pattaya Go Go bars each have some of the best looking girls in town. What’s more, they have plenty of girls to go around. Both clubs are very popular. No matter where you go up and down Walking Street, even at the best Pattaya Go Go Bars Sang Som is cheap. The most I’ve ever paid in Pattaya is 110 baht at Bacarra which is the premier go go bar on Walking Street.

I just started laughing. Here I thought I was being generous and leaving a tip and it turns out that I was 30 baht short. I asked about beer prices and was told that a Singha (Thai) beer costs 135 baht. No way! Meanwhile, across the street and down at Windmill you can get a beer or a shot for 45 baht and have fun doing it while you’re there.

Needless to say, I literally ran out of the place. The hostess asked if I would come back later. Hell no, I replied.

Well, some time has passed now. Every time I go past this hole in the wall on my way to Windmill, I stick my head in just to see if there have been any improvements. I’ve looked in there a bunch of times now and I’ve never seen anything that would make me want to stay.

There was one good night when they officially had their Spanky’s Pattaya Grand Opening on Saturday, December 17, 2010. The owners of Spanky’s also have a club with the same name up in Nana Plaza in Bangkok. For the Grand Opening in Pattaya they closed up the Bangkok Club and brought all of the girls down to Pattaya. They had around 30 good looking girls and for such a small venue they made quite a good party of it. But who cares, the bar fines were too high for anyone to partake.

After the Grand Opening things returned to the regular drab four-girl line up.

I dropped in again for another short visit during New Years weekend. No change. Never any girl in the shower and never more than four girls on stage. The price of a Singha Beer is still 135 baht and the bar fine is still 1,500 and yes, Sang Som is 130 baht per shot. Maybe they can charge that much up at Nana Plaza in Bangkok, but Pattaya punters aren’t going to stand for it. I can’t recommend this place.

New Year’s Eve in Pattaya is the craziest night of the year, by far. More people crowd into town during this celebration than at any other time of the year. Last night was no exception. Walking Street was so crowded that you couldn’t even move. You had to just creep along, shoulder to shoulder, asshole to belly button, with everyone else who was out and about.

Every Pattaya gogo bar was packed and it was one huge party. The whole town rocked at midnight. It was unbelievable. You guys who haven’t yet witnessed Pattaya on New Years should make it a point to come on down next year. Make sure to get your reservations early because every hotel in town is fully booked.

As we look back on 2011 there was one gogo bar that closed down that brings a tear to my eye when I think of it. The famous Beavers GoGo on Walking Street closed down about midway through the year. It not only closed, but they tore down the whole building where it used to stand. Man, I loved Beaver’s and I miss it every time I walk by the vacant lot now. Beaver’s was the best table dance club in the world. It’s gone but not forgotten.

Another club that closed was Club Boeshe. That one I don’t miss a bit. Probably just as well it’s gone.

Sapphire Club closed down during the summer for remodeling and reopened in November bigger and better than ever. If you haven’t checked out the new Sapphire Club, head on down Soi 15. They have way more girls now and they’re some of the hottest girls in town. They even have a set of twins! That’s right, twin Pattaya Girls just waiting to meet you. The bad news is that Sapphire raised their bar fine all the way up to 800 baht.

Quite few new gogo bars opened up in 2011. Soi LK Metro was the scene that witnessed the most new openings during the past year. There was Mash Go Go, Submarine GoGo, Kiss A GoGo, and Sugar Sugar. Soi LK Metro has now become one of the premier entertainment areas in Pattaya. I hear that there are plans to open a couple more gogo bars up there during 2012.

Walking Street saw the opening of Moon Club. Moon was blasted by local ex-pats when it first opened because of high prices. The dust has settled and I guess it’s not such a bad place after all. I think the jury is still out.

After half a day [...]]]> If you haven’t been to a gogo in Thailand you are missing a lot! Three of us visited a Silver Star 2 gogo on our previous trip and we were sold straight away! But this time, we had a very ambitious plan to visit a few places in one night.

After half a day of sunbathing we met in the evening to go to Walking Street. Before we got to the first gogo, my lady took us to ‘ZAB cafe’ just at the beginning of Walking Street (rhs). They had a live band playing traditional Issan music, lots of drunk farangs dancing and many single ladies waiting for YOU!!!

We have been there for an hour or so before moving on to a ‘Beavers’ gogo. We have missed it on our last trip as we didn’t know where it was. Well, this time we have done our homework! Submarine a Go Go is one of the smallest go go bars in all of Pattaya. It’s tiny and intimate. As the name suggests, the theme of this club is a submarine. To enter the “ship” you have to walk over a little gang plank and open up a door that’s fashioned like a ship’s bulkhead. Its right out of a submarine movie set. Once on the inside, however, that’s where the similarity ends.

As soon as you’re through the bulkhead, you’re right up against one of the five circular stages that run back into the room. I mean you don’t even have to take one step before you’re running right into the girl on the first stage.

Even though the nightclub is really small, they’ve still managed to find room for a shower and tub that’s placed right under the stairway that leads up to the short-time rooms. This little tub has seats right close by so you can participate in the sudsing of the girls. It’s a nice touch.
