Police Raid Pattaya Soi 6

Over 100 Pattaya police officers closed off the entire Soi 6 entertainment area the other night and raided all of the bars along the street. Over 400 bar workers were rounded up and questioned during the raid. Apparently, alert police were tipped off that there may have been prostitution and drug use occurring along Soi 6 in Pattaya. Who would have imagined it?

If any of you were up on Soi 6 on Monday night after midnight, you probably were shocked and awed by the raid. As police rapidly swooped into the area, I hope nobody got caught with their pants down. Such a large scale raid has never before taken place in Pattaya. I guess it was just a matter of time. I hope this doesn’t signal the end of such great entertainment venues as Soi 6.

According to one of the Pattaya girls I know up there, right before the raid happened the electric went off. With no lights on, most of the customers pulled up there pants and left. As soon as electricity was restored, in swept the cops.

The raid took most of the night to complete and police didn’t leave the scene until the wee hours of Tuesday morning. Imagine it! They rounded everybody up and took urine samples from all employees of all of the bars. That amounted to over 400 bar workers pissing into cups and waiting for the results.

According to reports, the police performed the usual checks for license violations, underage girls, and drug use. Fortunately, no underage girls were found. It’s nice to know that the Soi 6 bar owners run a clean shop in that regard. No license violations were reported either.

My girl reports that there were, however, a bunch of Pattaya Girls who tested positive for drug use, specifically, yaba (crystal meth). Apparently, out of all the Pattaya Girls that were tested, at least 60 came up positive. Those 60 unfortunates were packed into prisoner transport vehicles and carted off to the Police Station.

Who knows what happens next. I’ve always said that Soi 6 is a daytime venue. Go there at night at your own risk.

The First Pattaya Beer Bar

Did you ever wonder how it all started? Where was the very first Pattaya Beer Bar and what was it called? Did they have bar girls like today? I recently set out on a quest to find the history of Pattaya beer bars. This is what I discovered.

Of all the entertainment venues in Pattaya, the most abundant is definitely the “beer bar”. There are more beer bars per square kilometer in Pattaya than in any other city in the world. It’s impossible to count them. I don’t know of even one street in all of Pattaya that doesn’t have at least one beer bar. If you can find a street or Soi in Pattaya without a beer bar, please weigh in with a comment below.

There are literally hundreds of Pattaya beer bars, there could be even more than a thousand. Now, if you figure that each of these places employs anywhere from 10 to 15 Pattaya Girls, then you do the math, there are a whole bunch of girls here in Pattaya that are just dying to meet you.

For those of you that haven’t yet visited our fair city, you may be wondering what exactly is a “Beer Bar”. Well, it’s basically an open air bar. Some of them have three sides, some have two sides, and some only have one side. They all have a roof. They are open to the street so you can watch the people passing by and the bar girls can beckon to potential customers, “Hello welcome”.

Some have a small dance stage with a pole, but you usually don’t see very many good pole dancers at the beer bars. The exception to that would be the Frog Bar or the Basilisk Bar on Walking Street where outstanding dancers are occasionally featured

There are also large beer bar complexes, like Siren, that house several different bars all under one roof. Naturally, they all have a bar where your favorite beverages are served and,of course they all have bar girls.

Since theses venues are open to the street, there is no nudity and no hands-on activity. The girls are generally not up to the caliber of the gorgeous gogo girls that can be found on Walking Street, but there are some very attractive Pattaya Girls to be found in the beer bars.

Beer and other alcoholic beverages are much more reasonably priced at the beer bars than at the other entertainment venues in Pattaya. Some beer bars, like We Are The World on Beach Road, feature happy hour prices with shots for as little as 25 baht and a bottle of beer for 50 baht. Some also feature live music from local bands.

So how did it all start? It started back in the sixties during the Viet Nam War. Thailand was neutral during the war, but they allowed the US Air Force to station the huge K-135 tankers at Don Muang Air Base in Bangkok where the US could stage refueling operations throughout Indochina.

The sight of the huge planes flying in and out over Bangkok was starting to cause political embarrassment. So an agreement was made to move the operation down to the remote U-Tapao Royal Thai Navy Airfield, just outside of Pattaya.

In August, 1966 fifteen of the huge K-135 tankers arrived at U-Tapao along with support personnel and refueling operations officially began.

In 1967 another agreement was made with the Thai government that would allow fifteen B-52 bombers to be stationed at the base. The bombers and support staff arrived in March of 1967.

During 1967 the U.S. Air Force had a few guys stationed at U-Tapao air base just to support the fifteen B-52 bombers and the K-135 tankers that were flying in and out. The guys performed aircraft maintenance, storage and loading of explosive ordinance, as well as refueling of the B-52′s. Naturally, when the fly boys were off-duty they would head into Pattaya for fun and sun with the hopes of meeting a Pattaya Girl.

In those early days, there weren’t any gogo bars and there really weren’t any local girls available either. That bleak situation, however, didn’t last long.

The very first beer bar to open in Pattaya was called Barbos and it was owned by an enterprising ex-pat from Greece.

Barbos was basically the only place in Pattaya where you could hang out and have a beer with your buddies. Barbo’s didn’t actually have any bar girls, but as word slowly leaked out, some girls from Bangkok started coming down to Pattaya to meet the boys from the base. The bar at that time featured food and drink and old fashioned couples dancing.

Steve Lott was one of the American GI’s that was stationed at U Tapao during those early days. Steve was an Electronics Warfare expert during his stay at U Tapao. According to Steve, “Several of us lowly enlisted troops from the EW shop used to go to Pattaya when we got enough time to do an over-nighter. It was great to get away from the constant activity at the base.”

Steve and his buddies helped pioneer the Pattaya entertainment scene. Thanks to Steve, I’m able to share with you some of the only existing photos of Pattaya and of Barbos from those early days. Steve took these photos in 1968.

The bar was located approximately where the intersection of South Pattaya and Walking Street meet today. At that time, there was no Walking Street as we know it. Hell, back then there were really only 2 or 3 streets in the whole town.

Eventually, the USA started using U-Tapao as a base to fly in soldiers from every branch of the US military for R & R leave. When that happened things changed rapidly. As soon as hundreds of US servicemen started to flood into Pattaya, word got out.

Can you imagine? While planeloads of horny guys were flying into Pattaya, busloads of girls were coming down from Bangkok. As demand for girls increased, word spread to Issan in Northeast Thailand. Beer Bars and Go Go Bars started to spring up all along the “Main Drag”. The rest is history!

So there you have it, a little history lesson. Here’s to Steve and the boys from U-Tapao and Barbos for making it all happen. Thanks guys.

Tahitian Queen Video

I shot this Tahitian Queeen video over a year ago. I don’t know why I never posted it here in the Videos category. So, here you are, The Tahitian Queen.

The TQ is one of my favorite places to go in the afternoon or early evening, just after a stroll along the Pattaya Beach Road. Most times, I don’t start out with the intention of going to the Tahitian Queen, but somehow I wind up there anyway. Usually, it happens like this…

I head for the beach and along the way I stop at the Family Mart and pick up a large bottle of Chang Beer. I find a shady seat and proceed to enjoy the breeze and the beer. After I finish the beer, I head off walking down the promenade to get a little exercise, check out the freelancers, and scope out the other usual sites that can be found at the beach.

About the time I see the Tahitian Queen come into view on the other side of the street, I’m thinking that a shot of Sang Som might be nice. Besides, the TQ is air conditioned and, what-the-hell, it’s right there in front of me. Why not stop in… just for a while.

That’s how it starts. Sometimes I wind up back in the short-time room and sometimes I just stay for a while and enjoy the music. Either way, it’s always worth the stop. This video was shot during one of my typical afternoon stops at the TQ.

The Pattaya Coconut Bar

The narrow promenade that runs all along Pattaya Beach stretching from North to South is affectionately referred to as the Coconut Bar. It’s a social meeting place for tourists and expats from all over the world. There are benches all along this boulevard. There’s plenty of shade and it’s a great place to just hang out, people-watch, and relax. A stop at the Coconut Bar is a must for any visitor to Pattaya.

The Coconut Bar has become an institution almost as famous as Walking Street itself. This is the main venue for picking up the Pattaya Freelancers. The Pattaya Freelancers can be found here at almost any time, day or night, but there’s more than just girls along this popular stretch of beach.

There’s always a cool breeze and it’s the best and cheapest place in town to enjoy a cold beer in the daytime. All along Beach Road you will find convenience stores such as 7/11 and Family Mart at strategic locations where you can pick up your favorite beers for as little as 45 baht for a large bottle. Buy a beer, walk across the street, and find yourself a shady bench to sit on. The sitting areas that are closest to the convenience stores are the most popular. There’s also food available from the numerous vendors that ply their wares all along the beach.

I try to make it a point to spend at least an hour or so everyday down at the Coconut Bar. It’s good therapy. There are always joggers, walkers, and couples strolling up and down the Boulevard and you never know what you might see. The Pattaya Girls will be down there chatting, putting on makeup, talking on there cell phones, and getting ready for their next customers.

The main road that runs along this stretch is appropriately called Beach Road . On the opposite side of the street from the Coconut Bar, you’ll find numerous beer bars and other entertainment venues, as well as souvenir and coffee shops There are dozens of beer bars where you can find a cool beverage and some company.

Some good stops along Beach Road include the Em Bar, Poppies, and We Are The World beer bars. There is a huge cluster of beer bars located right between Soi 7 and 8 that’s popular.

Besides the beer bars, you will find the Tahitian Queen down around Soi 13. If you’ve had a couple of beers in the shade at the Coconut Bar, it’s hard to pass up the Tahitian Queen. I’ve fallen victim to their short-time room, in the back, many times after a pleasant morning on the beach.

Traffic is one-way on Beach Road running North to South all the way down to Walking Street where the Coconut Bar ends. You can catch one of the many Song Thaew also referred to as Baht Buses, to get get to Walking Steet, day or night. It only costs 10 baht for a ride.

Also, along Beach Road you can find girl-friendly hotels like the Siam Bayview and the Baboona Hotel overlooking the Coconut Bar.

The Coconut Bar Umbrella Experience

Pattaya Beach is an “attended” beach which means that most of the area is covered by umbrellas and lounge chairs that are available to rent. These umbrella establishments are run by various families that have been doing this for years and years.

Relax under a comfortable Pattaya beach umbrella.

You can rent a chair for the entire day for 30 baht. These vendors also cook food to order, serve beer, soft drinks, and coconuts and generally cater to your needs while you enjoy the shade. It’s really a good deal.

Besides the vendors that own the umbrellas and chairs, you’ll find a whole bunch of other walking vendors that will try to sell you anything from a tattoo to knock-off designer sunglasses. There will be food vendors of all sorts, walking foot massage girls, Tiger Balm sellers, ice cream guys, paintings, hats, bags… you name it. It’s all available at the Coconut Bar.

All of these strolling vendors can actually become quite annoying if you’re trying to enjoy a quiet time in the shade. According to my observations, most of the vendors will assault you as soon as you sit down in your rented lounge chair. After they’ve each had a go at you, after a while, they will eventually stop bothering you and you can enjoy the rest of the day. If you’re wearing earphones and listening to an iPod, they’ll give up even quicker.

No matter what you do while you’re enjoying your day at the beach, do not rent a jet ski. It is one of the famous Pattaya rip-off scams that has been going on for years. Stay away from the jet skis.

The best activity at the beach is watching the Pattaya freelancers. There are plenty of freelancers all along the boulevard. In the daytime, if you spot a freelancer that you’re interested in, invite her to sit down under the umbrellas with you. Buy her some food and a beer or two while you get to know her. The freelancers are very appreciative of this and will treat you right when the time comes to go back to your room.

Night Time at The Coconut Bar

Starting around 5:00 pm, the Coconut Girls start to come out in force. I personally think that between 6:00 and 7:00 pm is one of the best times for viewing the Coconut Bar Freelancers.

This is the time of day for great sunsets in Pattaya. With the position of the sun in the sky, it’s best to be walking from South to North if you want to stroll and check out the girls. Otherwise, the sun is shining right in your eyes and you can’t get a good view.

The highest concentration of girls is between Central Festival Mall and Royal Garden Plaza, although the girls can be found all up and down Beach Road.
Some of these girls come all the way down from Bangkok, just for the weekends.

I’ve noticed that there are a lot more girls that show up right before the first of the month when the rent is due. They slide down to Pattaya to pick up a few extra baht and scamper back home to pay the bills. If you’re lucky, you can occasionally run across some of the sweet freelancers from the Bangkok universities.

Man, I love this place!

Pattaya Freelancers

Let’s talk about Pattaya Freelancers. In case you’re not familiar with the term, the Pattaya freelancers are the independent working girls that are not employed by any entertainment venue, beer bar, or go go. They’re entrepreneurs, so to speak. They set their own price and hours and work when they want and where they want. Actually, they’re some of the most interesting girls in Pattaya. They’re also the cheapest when it comes to sex.

You can find the Pattaya freelancers almost anywhere in town. In fact, sometimes it seems like all the girls in Pattaya will turn a trick every now and then. I’ve met freelancers who used to work at Big C. I’ve met freelancers who still work at 7/11, and even Starbucks. They’re everywhere.

If you spot a gorgeous girl in Pattaya who is dressed to kill and is wearing fancy high heeled shoes, chances are pretty good that she’ll go with you if you ask. If you’re not sure, just ask her, “Hi, do you go with farang?” If she’s not a freelancer, she’ll just tell you “no”. But chances are pretty good in Pattaya that she’ll say, “Yes, I go with you.”

The main location where these freelance girls come to work is the promenade along Beach Road, better known as the Coconut Bar. Now here, there’s no doubt about it. If she’s standing alone, dressed nicely, and watching men as they pass by, you can be sure she’s a freelancer. Most of them will look you straight in the eyes, smile, and say, “Hello, I go with you.” On the other hand, some of them hold back and wait for you to make the first move.

Picking up these talented Pattaya girls is easy, so there’s no need to be shy or apprehensive about approaching a freelance girl. Just walk right up to the one you like and start with “Hello”. The girls will take it from there. I’ve filmed a couple of videos about the girls and you can see them in action in Volume 1 or Volume 2 of the Pattaya Freelancer Videos.

I started out this post by mentioning that the freelancers set their own prices. That’s not entirely true. You see, the going rate is 500 baht for a “short time” with a freelancer. All of the girls charge the same and every punter in Pattaya knows that 500 baht is the price. Now, if you look and act like you just got off the plane and you’ve never been with a girl before, then they might ask for more. I’ve overheard girls asking for 600 baht from a newbie. But in the end, they always settle for 500 baht.

In all honesty, there are also some real hags down at Beach Road. There are some fat old women down there that are scary, they’re so ugly. Nevertheless, even a blind hog gets an acorn every now and then and these hags occasionally get picked up. I have witnessed falling-down-drunk old guys negotiating with these old hags and I’ve heard prices quoted as low as 300 baht. So, lower prices are possible, but you get what you pay for.

On the whole, there are some very attractive girls down at the Coconut Bar. Most of the really gorgeous girls will only take you for a “short time”. They want to get back out there on the street. The good looking ones can turn several tricks in a night and they can make a lot of money. Don’t expect them to hang around after you’ve “finished”. You cum, they go.

Remember to use good sense if you take a freelancer back to your hotel. These girls come and go and can vanish from town in an instant. You have no recourse. So, make sure your valuables are stored in a safe place and that you’re not carrying a lot of cash. Also, don’t ingest any food or drink that the girl offers you. There have been cases of guys being drugged and ripped-off by freelance girls. It’s certainly not the norm, but it does happen occasionally.

Make sure you agree on the price and details before you go back to the room. Bart’s friend Matt had his night ruined by an aggressive freelancer. Don’t let it happen to you. Follow a few basic precautions and you’ll have a fantastic time. Go for it and enjoy.

Pattaya Ladyboy to Compete for Miss Universe

That’s right. The big news this week was the announcement by Donald Trump that a ladyboy would be allowed to compete in the Miss Universe beauty pageant. I’m sure you must have seen this on the news. The ladyboy goes by the name of Jenna Talackova and he is “officially” classified as transgender since he had his dick cut off some years back.

This ladyboy has been to Pattaya and its been rumored that he was spotted down at Beach Road back in 2010 strutting his stuff up and down the promenade. I’ll tell you what, he could have definitely fooled me. Even his voice is a pretty good imitation of a woman.

That’s not the only location where she/he was spotted in Pattaya. This ladyboy actually competed here in the 2010 Miss International Queen contest that was held at Tiffany’s. She/He competed against 23 other transgender ladyboys and came out near the top.

Jenna is really from Vancouver, Canada and he’ll start off by competing for the title of Miss Canada. If he wins there, then we’ll get to see him compete against Miss Thailand and all of the other real girls for the title of Miss Universe. So, he’s got a ways to go before that actually happens. Frankly, I think his legs are too skinny to be able to pull it off. Besides that, his tits are a little droopy.

Pattaya Jet Ski Scam

DO NOT RENT A JET SKI IN PATTAYA!

The Pattaya Jet Ski Scam is one of the longest running scams in town. My friends, don’t fall victim to this rip-off. This scam happens every single day in Pattaya.

I was down at the beach today and witnessed it happening again. The funny thing about it is that everyone on the beach is watching and knowing it’s happening except for the hapless victims.

Today’s episode happened in front of the Nautica Hotel. There’s a shifty bunch of jet ski operators that work right in this area. But don’t think that this is the only location where the scam takes place. This is just where I happened to see it come down today. The scam happens all up and down the beach and has gone unchecked for years.

Jet ski scammers seem to prey on single men who are out for an adrenalin rush on the waves. Most customers never take a second look at the jet ski when they first rent it. They just want to get out on the waves and race around. Most times the guys just race around madly until they are finally called back to the beach by the operator when their time is up.

Once the boys bring the machines back to shore that’s when the scamming begins. The operator will run the jet ski up onto the beach so that the underbelly is fully exposed. He then examines the “damage” that was caused by the customer. Meanwhile, there stands the customer, without a clue as to what’s happening.

Naturally the operator is upset about the “damage” to his jet ski. The unwitting victim doesn’t remember hitting anything or having a collision while out on the waves. The jet ski operator, however, is there with photos to prove the extent of the damage.

Yes, the operators now have cameras with “before” photos of the undamaged jet ski. For some reason, I have never seen anyone question the veracity of these “before” photos. They could have been taken months ago when the jet ski was just purchased. Who knows? They may even be doctored up. Nevertheless, in the latest version of this scam, the operators are able to produce photos.

Not long ago, the operators used to put some kind of substance like putty over the damage. The putty would come off during all of the bouncing around on the waves and the damage would be revealed back on the beach.

At any rate, now they appear to have the proof and now the negotiations begin. I don’t understand why these victims just don’t walk away, but they don’t. They just stand there and accept that there has, indeed, been damage done to the jet ski. What’s up with that?

Today was no different. The two customers actually went back to the shade and sat down with the operator to haggle about the amount of the damage. As this takes place, other beach vendors, who are in on the scam, show up to watch and lend support to the jet ski operators.

This can be a scary situation. Today there was a knife sitting right on the table which had previously been used to open coconuts. Now the operator has it in his hand as he is talking with his customer. Don’t get me wrong, today no threats were made, but the guy is sitting there with a knife, for God’s sake. What are you going to do?

The victim is plainly at a disadvantage. I sat and watched today for over an hour as this scene unfolded. The operator is in no hurry. In fact, the longer the negotiations take place, the more valid becomes his claim for damages.

Sometimes, the negotiations do turn violent and the police are called in to help. When the police arrive, they help to sort things out, BUT the vendor always wins in the end. The police will usually arrange for a pay-off of much less than the original exorbitant demand. But you can be certain that the money always goes to the operator. The victim never just walks away without paying something. So, if this happens to you, don’t expect the police to be on your side.

The operator always pleads that he is going to lose the use of the jet ski while it is being repaired. The loss of income plus the actual cost of the repair will be costly.

As tempers rise, other vendors and operators appear out of the wood work. Look out. Here comes another guy casually carving up a coconut as he watches the action.

They must have some kind of signal to call in the other guys, because they all seem to appear at the same time. Like I said, everyone on the beach knows exactly what’s going on and every player will get a cut of the action.

How much are we talking about? The Pattaya Daily News recently reported a demand for $100,000 baht ($3,400 USD). Yes, you read that right, one hundred thousand baht! That’s a hell of a good scam. In that case some Ukrainian tourists were actually beaten by jet ski thugs.

Last July and August, things seemed to heat up for the jet ski mafia as Pattaya city officials clamored for a solution. Town meetings were held. Laws requiring licensing and insurance were enacted. Everybody was up in arms for about a month.

Now things down at the beach are back to normal with more tourists getting ripped-off every day.

Today the police weren’t called in at all. The victims accepted their plight and called a friend who showed up with the cash. I have no idea how much money exchanged hands today.

Guys, come to Pattaya. Enjoy the nightlife and the Pattaya Girls, but, DON’T RENT A JET SKI IN PATTAYA!

One of the places which you should check is a ‘CULTURE CLUB’ (opposite Sawasdee Sunshine hotel). During my last trip I was walking through Soi Honey with my lady, who said: ‘You see, two minutes massage! Only young lady waiting’ Oh yes, I knew exactly what she was talking about.

I remember visiting it with Tom last April. It was a rainy day and we slept in Sawasdee Sunshine (that was my 3rd trip to Thailand, 5 of us and plenty of girls. Thai girls!). We did not fancy walking around and just crossed the street and walked inside.

To tell you the truth, I never even used to consider going into Byblos Go Go Bar. It’s just a small club located clear down at the very end of Soi Diamond. Actually, it sits right on the corner of Soi Diamond and Pattaya 2 Road. There are two entrances, one on each street.

You have to pass Windmill Club to get to Byblos and that’s always been a problem for me. I just can’t get past Windmill. By the time I get all the way down Soi Diamond, I usually have a Pattaya Girl already attached to my arm. I’m thinking where’s the nearest taxi, let’s go back and boom-boom. Consequently, I just never stopped in. I think a lot of guys pass it up for the same reason.

Well, for me, all that changed back around the New Years holiday. As usual I was sitting in Windmill feeling up the girls and having a good old time. Byblos is Pattaya’s best kept secret. When you walk in, don’t expect to see the kind of raucous party atmosphere like you’d see at Babydolls or Windmill. What you can expect, however, is a good bunch of Pattaya Girls ready and willing to entertain you.

Byblos has a small main stage where there are usually 6 girls dancing. There are also four small one-girl stages placed at locations along the perimeter of the room. So, there are always at least 10 girls up and dancing. All of the girls dance totally naked. The rest of the girls circulate around the room inviting your attention. Mama Nok currently has around 25 girls in her stable.

If you’d like to cop a feel, you can sit right up close to the main stage on short stools. Like I said, it’s just a small venue, but Byblos gives a lot of personal attention to its customers. Lately, I’ve made it one of my regular stops. You should check it out.

As you walk into the club you’ll see that they have two tables set up as dance tables, complete with brass poles, that you have to walk between to get back to where the main stage is. Early in the evening, there aren’t any girls that dance there. The table dancers usually don’t get cranked up until after 9:30 or so. There are seats around these tables as well as up against the walls of the club. If you get here late, that’s probably where you’ll wind up sitting because Peppermint gets packed.

I like to get a seat right by the main stage where they have stools set up right at the edge of the stage. The main stage is further back into the room. The dancing stage at Peppermint Go Go bar is about two feet lower than the edge of the bar where your drink sets. This puts you just about eye level with the sweet Peppermint girls’ asses. This stage is set up along the right hand wall as you walk in.

The main stage always has at least 10 dancers for your viewing enjoyment. It’s also where they put on their nightly shows that feature the completely naked Pattaya Girls of Peppermint as they strut their stuff. Peppermint A Go Go has a good happy hour from 8:00 to 9:30 when you can get a draft beer for just 59 baht and shots of Sang Som for just 65 baht. Now, that’s a reasonable price.

As soon as Happy Hour is over at 9:30 they bring out what I refer to as the “A” team. These hot Pattaya Girls all take the stage at the same time and they are the hottest girls in the club. The music gets cranking and the girls get shaking and the party definitely moves to a new level. These girls really know how to dance, but the best part comes at the end of a few songs when all of the girls get naked and dance their grand finale dance. After that 9:30 warm up dance by the “A” team, it seems like the place takes off on fire. The music is up tempo and all of the girls are really getting it on. By 10:00 pm the party is really rocking.
